Get to know us

Together, Bernell and Will are dedicated advocates within their community, working closely with families, schools, and organizations to promote inclusion and support for children with special needs. Inspired by their youngest son, Trey, they founded Trey’s Way to combine their professional expertise and personal experiences, offering consulting, advocacy, coaching, public speaking, and tailored solutions to help families and organizations create safe, nurturing spaces where children can flourish.

Bernell is a Licensed Social Worker and a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (MSW ‘03), with over two decades of experience in therapeutic foster care, family counseling, and correctional social work. As her family grew, she combined her passion for music with event management, leading in a successful entertainment company for 14 years. After stepping away, Bernell discovered DIY and woodworking, dedicating the past eight years to designing and building custom projects. Alongside coaching and counseling, her passion is creating spaces that support mental and emotional well-being, helping individuals and families thrive.

Our mission

At Trey's Way, our mission is to empower individuals and families navigating autism and related challenges by providing personalized support, advocacy, and resources. We are committed to fostering understanding, acceptance, and growth, guided by Trey's inspirational journey. Through a holistic approach that integrates professional expertise and lived experiences, we strive to create a compassionate and inclusive community where every individual can thrive. Together, we embrace diversity, celebrate progress, and journey towards transformation, one step at a time.

Behind the Logo

The Trey’s Way Consulting logo, marked by a set of small footprints, represents more than a design — it captures the heart of a journey toward transformation. These footprints symbolize the unique paths each person takes, especially when navigating the challenges of autism and neurodiversity. No two footprints are the same, just as no two journeys are identical. The roofline above them signifies safety and home — a reminder that every child deserves a space where they feel secure, seen, and supported. The gentle waves below reflect the importance of sensory flow, calm, and regulation. At Trey’s Way, we honor each step of progress, however small, and walk alongside families as they design environments tailored to their child’s needs. Our logo is a daily reminder that growth is personal, transformation is possible, and no one has to walk the path alone.
